what an awesome comeback by the Stars last night! It was great to see the goalie keep them in the game until the offense could get on track and pot 3 in the last 10 minutes to win it...

Ohhh...

This is the Flyers blob...

Not to knock Devan Dubnyk, or take away from his performance, but he didn't have to work too hard to get that shutout.

I thought Dubnyk played extremely well. The Flyers had some golden scoring chances sparsely throughout the game, and he stopped them all. He made it look easy because he barely let any rebounds get away from him.

Bryz made some fantastic saves last night, but it still plagued with soft goals, fighting the puck and tons of rebounds. Zero blame for him on last night's loss, but not really a building-block effort either.

I thought bryz was avg, which is an improvement. he should have stopped eberle, but it wasn't a weak goal per se. he still looked to be fighting the puck at times, but his positioning allowed him to make saves he previously wasn't able to. I don't know what is going on with his glove at times and rebound control is non-existent for long stretches. but like I said, last nite represented an improvement.

Bryz let in 2 goals, to me that's an improvement even if he struggled at times during the game versus other games. giving up 2 goals and not scoring any is 100% unacceptable with this team. #halffull

Funny... I thought Bryz played very well, but was (frank)ed by that poopty excuse of a team effort in front of him. He had his own D-men and forwards collapsing right in front of him.. but he was finding pucks and attempting to control or steer rebounds.. The 2nd goal is one you would like to save, but it is certainly a shooters advantage. Golden gift to Ebrle (only because of his hard work against the much bigger Coburn) who has a hell of a release.

That was probably one of the worst performances by the team that I have seen in a long time. They didnt want it.

Sorry boys but again why do we keep bringing this back to what Bryz did or didn't do? Last night's game and it's outcome had nothing to do with Bryz and Dubnyk really didn't have to stop anything spectacular. Most of the prime scoring chances the Flyers had were shot right at Dubnyk. After the emotional win in Winnipeg the other night it would've been nice to see them carry that into Edmonton and take advantage of a poor defensive club. Yet once again the Flyers barely showed up and this post all star break funk that they always seem to have coupled with back up goalies beating them consistently, I wonder when people will starting calling for Lavy to be let go.

See my post to brad.. i think a big reason he ends up fighting pucks is that he cant get a good look at the puck. I thought he was aggressive last night and did what he needed to do to get a win. The team didnt follow suit.

I agree. Only a few shots were of the non-perimeter variety. He made a handful of good ones but he rarely had to move much (which shows he was sharp), and the Flyers couldn't get to rebounds to save their lives last night.

debatable whether the eberle goal was weak, but even still, some big saves and just one soft goal is absolutely a building-block effort at this point.

you could see the flyers were in trouble the first shift of the second period. after they completely carried the play in the first, they disappeared. it was embarrassing to watch. if they worked even a little hard as a unit, they would have been able to generate chances against that club.

simply put the blame should not be on Bryz although it's a whole team effort. the offense didn't show up.

Another distressful sign of the lack of compete that Philadelphia displayed last night: their horrific performance in the faceoff circle (19-for-57, 33%). Danny Briere (3-for-15, 20%) and Brayden Schenn (2-for-10, 20%) were at the bottom of the barrel. But not even the often-dominant Claude Giroux (8-for-17, 47%) had a particularly good night at the dot.

The 5 on 5 offense was abysmal last night along with the power play. The penalty kill right now is simply awful to watch. I cringe every time they take a penalty! Is it just me or has Coburn seemed to have regressed since his breakout season?

Coburn/Timonen pairing has been awful of late. Coburn has been making bonehead plays and Kimmo just looks like he's out of gas.

That first PK last night looked like one of the PK's in my men's league with a few beers under our belts. Guys running all over the place, no organization what so ever. Tighten up the box, block a (frank)ing shot or two and clear the damn puck when it's on your stick. This is a man's game, play like it.

Bill, I noticed when talking about the Eberle goal you mentioned something in parenthesis about the puck going off Matt Read. I thought the clear attempt by Coburn went off Briere's skate along the boards. Am I missing something?

Speaking of Briere, he hasn't had a goal in over a month. I.E he needs to face some scrutiny here, he's the highest paid player on the team. Yes he's great in the playoffs but you have to make the playoffs before you can be great in it. Can't rely on the top line every night. Suppose he doesn't get it turned around nor turns it on in the playoffs, and amnesty becomes a reality in the new CBA, does he become number one candidate for said amnesty?

it's just you.
I think Kimmo looks awful...has the wear and tear finally caught up to him?
